News25/01/2010 - New for 2010
Time flies!
We are already well into the new year and it's time to turn our attention to getting our nursery spick and span ready for when we open in March. We are carefully nurturing some new varieties of hardy geraniums to add to our ever increasing stock list. We are currently nudging towards 100! Look out for these pretty ones which are good for rock gardens: G. 'Laurence Flatman', G. 'Splendens' and G. dalmaticum 'Album'. The flowers of these are large, relative to the size of the compact foliage. Our G. nodosum 'Swelte Lilac' is great for shady areas and will bloom all summer long. We have two extra sanguineum varieties: G. sang. 'Ankum's Pride' and 'Glenluce'. Very attractive plants for a sunny spot. We now have a great geranium oxonianum called 'Southcombe Double' which has pretty pink star shaped flowers. The list goes on and on! We are always ready to do our best to advise on which variety should suit your spot best!
As well as old favourites, we also have different varieties of pelargonium on offer. See what you think of the newly developed yellow one! Remember the lovely perfume from the scented varieties as they are brushed against. Great near a door or on the patio.
We are also varying our alpine, herb and other perennial plant stock. There are lots to choose from.
We are continuing to take bookings for our 'Wine and Wander' evenings which have been very successful. In addition we have added an afternoon equivalent called a 'Cake and Cuppa' afternoon. See 'About Us' for details. We have enjoyed holding them and have met some friendly and interesting people.
All in all we are prepared for another season of hard work and good fun with all our plant sales. We wish you happy in your gardening and hope that you will come to see us here in Bethersden soon.
